Getting To Key West
Getting to Key West
You can drive, fly, take a bus or get here by Ferry. Non stop flights are available from Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte and Ft Myers.
DRIVING: Many people fly to either Miami or Fort Lauderdale airports, rent a car and drive down. Driving time from Miami is 3.5 hours. From Fort Lauderdale it's 4 hours. There is only one road in and it can be slow moving at times. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. The 7 Mile Grill is a cute place to stop for a bite to eat. It is located just before the 7 mile bridge, on the right at mile marker 47.5. You may want to check out Pigeon Key. This tiny five acre island, located under the old 7 mile bridge, once provided housing and headquarters for Henry Flagler’s railroad workers. Be sure to obey the speed limit, especially in Big Pine Key – home of the endangered Key Deer.
BY FERRY If you are on the Southwest Coast of Florida, you could take the high speed ferry to Key West. It departs from Fort Myers Beach every morning and arrives in Key West around 12:30PM.
