Fun Things to Do in Key West in December 2020
While the majority of the country bundles up by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate, Key West is a great place to be in December. While the water might not be quite warm enough for a dip (unless you’re braver than us), the weather is pretty fantastic and there is lots to do.
Ready to see what some top December activities in Key West are?
Special Note: Many of these events are still TBD due to COVID.
The Holly Jolly Holiday Lights Tour
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the lights, now, would it? Throughout the month of December, you can hop on the Holly Jolly Holiday Trolley and go through the city to check out some of the best lights.
As an extra bonus, you’ll even get special holiday lights glasses to help you enjoy all the twinkles and sparkles.
The Tree Trimming Party
It’s time to decorate the tree! Taking place at the Schooner Wharf Bar, this party is all about decorating the free, making holiday crafts, and donating toys to the tour drive.
You can also bring your own ornament (DIY ornaments heavily encouraged) and you’ll get a free cocktail!
Christmas Day
Although you’re more likely to relax under the shade of a palm tree instead of sledding down a mountainside, Key West is a great place to pass Christmas Day. Some shops and restaurants will be open so there will be plenty to see during the day.
The New Year’s Eve Celebration
While we don’t have the giant ball in Times Square, we do lower a Conch Shell over Sloppy Joe’s on Duval St. You can check that out, or you can head over to the Bourbon Street Complex over on upper Duval Street and see the lowering of the famous Key West drag queen Sushi.
If you’re looking for something by the seaside, head down to the seaport where you can see a pirate wench lowered.
We love Christmastime and hope you will join us down in Key West. If you’re looking for any information, please reach out to us soon!
