The Thirsty Mermaid prides itself on being supplied by local ingredients so you know that your meal is coming from the ocean waters you’ve been lounging by all day.

If you’re a craft beer fan, you’ll feel right at home at the Thirsty Mermaid. The bar is stocked with plenty of local beers but also some from around the country.

They also have a full wine selection for any wannabe sommeliers out there.

The Flaming Buoy Filet Co.

When it comes to unique restaurants in Key West, the Flaming Buoy Filet Co. has to be near the top of the list. The restaurant is stuffed with Star Wars memorabilia and has some head-turning menu items like the Marinated & Grilled Key West Pink Shrimp with spice lime chutney, or the Lobster Thermidor with bacon-wrapped scallops. “Local additions, like seafood, tropical fruits, and Cuban flavors reinterpret the nostalgia, and the result grabbed the attention of The New York Times.” (The Flaming Buoy FB page.)

They are also a wine-lovers heaven and have wine bottles lining the wall, meaning you’ll be able to find your perfect wine to go with your lobster mac and cheese or fresh catch and banana salsa plate.

Living up to their name, they also have other selections besides seafood if you’re wanting to dig into some ribs or even a Coney Island-style hot dog.

Last but not least, the restaurant vibe is one-of-a-kind. They pride themselves on making a statement on the hushed stage of a residential neighborhood. They consider themselves one part retro supper club, one part sassy corner bistro, and part highly personal whim.

Glazed does shut down early at 3 PM every day, so make sure you’re heading there with plenty of time to spare. Of course, the earlier in the day the more fresh and tasty these sugary treats are bound to be.
